Marathi director Kedar Shinde remembered Balachhab Thackeray, founder of Shiv Sena, on the party’s 56th founding day. Shinde shared a throwback photo of his dad with Balasaheb.
While sharing the photo, Shinde wrote a long note and revealed how Balasaheb Thackeray came to his house to meet his father. He began his note by writing, “Today is the day of the foundation of Shiv Sena… Old memories are revived… Thackeray (Balasahab Thackeray)’s visit to Baba’s house Despite the horror of the great leaders of the time in western Maharashtra, the meetings which Baba held in Thackeray Place.After the riots, a popular English daily published a large picture of Baba in the newspaper and criticized Baba as “the bloodthirsty man who misled the unsaheb”.
According to Shinde, the newspaper asked his father to stay away from Shiv Sena. Shinde also lamented that his father’s contributions would not be mentioned when writing the history of Shiv Sena.
“I remember all this today. Baba voted for Shiv Sena to the end. Uncle Thackeray also loved the Sable family. But the only sad thing is that when Shiv Sena history is written, Baba’s contribution will not be mentioned,” Shinde added.
The famous director and actor is the grandson of the legendary Marathi folk artist Shaher Sable. The son of a famous composer and singer Devdata Sable is his maternal uncle.
