In an old interview, Kajol revealed that Chomo wanted to call it “Mercedes” because he liked that name.
For those unaware, Tanuja married director Shumo Mukherjee in 1973. They had two children, actor Kajol and Tanisha Mukherjee. Previously, Kajol revealed that when Tanuja and Shumu divorced, she was only four and a half years old. Shomo died in 2008, after suffering a severe cardiac arrest.
In a 1999 interview with Karan Thapar, Kajol said, “My dad actually wanted to name me Mercedes. He liked the name Mercedes. The owner of the car manufacturer Mercedes named his company after his daughter. So my dad always thought that if he could name his daughter Mercedes, why not I can? “
“I was loved, but I was not spoiled. My mother did not believe this saying, leave the stick, spoil the child. She was very strict, so I was beaten with badminton rackets and plates,” Kajol added.
Actress Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is married to actor Ajay Devgn, whom she met on the sets of the 1995 movie Hulchul. They were recently seen in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which turned out to be their biggest movie. The two are parents to Nyssa and Yug.
On the work front, Kajol was last seen in a short film Devi directed by first director Priyanka Banerjee. The film stars Neha Dhupia, Nina Kulkarni, Shruti Hassan, Sandhya Mahatri, Mukta Parvi, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Rama Joshi and Yashwini Dayam.
She is currently working on her next movie, Revathi, Salaam Funke. The film was announced in October 2021. The film’s title was originally The Last Hurray, and the film’s title was changed when filming began.
