Padma Shri award-winning filmmaker Tarun Majumdar passes away at 92 – Times of India
The famous director has been undergoing geriatric treatment at SSKM Hospital for the past few days. His condition was improving but deteriorated again yesterday, and the doctors decided to put him on a stent for ventilation.
Tarun Majumdar has won four national awards for classic films Kanchar Swargo, Nimantran, Janadivata and Arania Amar. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1990 for his extraordinary contribution to Hindi cinema.
His films like Smriti Tuku Thak (1960), Palatak (1963), Kuheli (1971), Shriman Prithviraj (1972), Balika Badhu (1976), Ganadevata (1978) and Dadar Kirti (1980) are still watched by all Bengali cinema lovers. Lots of famous actors including Mosumi Chatterjee, Mahwa Roychodhury, Ayan Banerjee and tapas bowl The silver screen made her debut in the Tarun Majumdar films.
